Here's an interview we did for a potential NY Times article about PTSD the end of last year.
We talked about our history with PTSD, our family upbringing, our favorite books, and what we think needs to be done with the mental health industry as a whole.
Pretty interesting stuff!
Here's what we were asked:
1. Can you please tell me a little more about yourselves and how you came into each other’s lives? What are your interests, quirks and hobbies? (You can be sure I will ask a more specific question to learn more about you during each interview.) I would love to know more about you, your separate individual answers as well as your unified answer as a couple.
2. What are your family backgrounds like? Do you believe your history and child development to be relevant to your experiences with PTSD?
3. Was vulnerability a part of your family units? What might you have to say about what you learned emotionally from others as a young person?
4. What are your favorite/top ten books, articles, media (in that order) that have influenced your coaching practice and your understanding of healing PTSD?
5. Have you heard of trauma-informed education? If so, can you please let me know where you heard about this, how this applies to your work or personal experiences and what resources you recommend?
6. What can you share with me about your coaching practice? What is the nature of your work, how do you reach people, and who are your clients?
7. If you entered into my position as a photojournalist this week, what provocative questions might you ask from your depth of knowledge in the field?
I hope you enjoy the interview!
